The only reason I read this to the end is because I told myself I would read every book to the end, whether I wanted to or not. I had a very hard time keeping my promise to myself with this book. For one thing, I am not into steamy sex. The other thing is I just couldn't get over all of the grammatical errors and spelling mistakes that ran rampant in the book. The ending was extremely predictable. I was happy with the ending itself.b

Armed and Fabulous Lexi Graves Mysteries Book 1 Camilla Chafer 9781481113700 Books Reviews

What can be said about this book other than -- it's pretty close to fabulous? This is a cozy mystery with just a hint of romance. It reminded me a bit of the early Janet Evanovich books with the two heroes (one dark, sexy, and not quite "safe", and the other equally delicious and much better suited for the heroine). The heroine, working as a temp, stumbles into a murder and finds herself caught up playing amateur detective with the two heroes taking turns keeping her safe. Sound familiar?

It was a lighthearted, humorous and fun read. The characters aren't particularly deep or well-developed, but that's okay if you take this book for what it is. If you enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series, you might want to check out this series. The only complaint I had was that there were some editing issues that pulled me out of the book (i.e. missing punctuation and words). Overall, I enjoyed the book and I'll be reading more in the series.
This started out with an immediate sexual attraction to her boss. Give me a break. It is my opinion that some authors don't have enough writing ability to keep a reader involved so they offer some sex to keep their interest. I got about 10 pages into the book and put it down. Usually I donate my books to the library but this one will be in the trash.
You don't need a plot summary, since the publisher has graciously provided one. The story is fun, and is continued through the several books in the series. My main gripe is grammar. The author is obviously making a HUGE (and all too obvious) effort to use "whom" and "were" (as in, "If I were a rich man..."), but she's getting it wrong. Someone needs to send her back for a review of objective and subjective pronouns, and the subjunctive tense. REALLY annoying. I get that she's making the effort. Really. I get it. But the errors would be less obvious if she were never to use "whom" at all, and never even try to use subjunctive tense. Also, she's a Brit writing about an American heroine who lives in America. The Brit-isms sneak in, despite (according to the author's blog) her editor's efforts to eradicate them. Lexi is embarrassed to be seen in her shorts and "singlet" (aka "tank top"). The Brit-ism don't really get in the way, but they are noticeable.

Enjoy the series. Suffer through Lexi's man trouble. Try your best to ignore the elephants in the room.
If you like mystery/romance/humor...this book is totally for you. Writer's style reminds me a lot of Kate Johnson's Sophia Green series, but has it's own uniqueness too.

The mystery side of it was well written, and though I figured out most of the 'who done it' seeing the why of it was great and complex.

The romance is weaved into the humor of the book as Lexi deals with two guys, a family of cops, and a funny best friend. I love that Lexi is a main female character who is smart and goes her own way but with faults. I spent so much of the book laughing at her reactions to things, but enjoying the great suspense the author creates.

I greatly enjoy this kind of book, and definitely will buy the second one in the series when released (this one I got free on kindle).
I got through 75% of the book and I gave up.. Three quarters of the way though the book and all I read about is Lexi lack of sex life. The heroine is still whining about her perfect sister. Her cop brothers know nothing about her involvement in the first murder investigation and it was boss who was knocked off !!! Then when there are three murders in the same small town in two nights and their sister is a material witness in all three they have no clue. I don't get it. She's been shot at, ran off the road and all this broad and her bff talk about is hooking up with the detectives. Heaven forbid someone should talk about the case. I'm glad I did not pay full price for this one.
Other reviewers kept saying this is à knock off of the Stephanie Plum books. No way. Ranger and Morelli were always trying to get Stephanie to stay away from trouble. These supposed FBI idiots put Lexi in the middle of it. I enjoy reading cozy mysteries. This one is not cozy and not even à mystery. Lexi has police in her family and yet lets men she does not know tell her to not tell anyone and she listens to them because they are sexy. The story is based on insurance fraud. The most boring crime The author could choose to write about. All this story does is try to make us believe women are empty headed sluts looking for a man to take care of them.
Totally juvenile and ridiculous. None of the characters were realistic. Their investigation was laughable. How did the police know there was fraud if they had no evidence? Lexi was supposed to be smart and she was never curious when Vincent told her about the expensive car he was getting? Or even later when he said he going to be rich and she would lose her job? She also lied and withheld evidence from the police and no one cared. Two weeks after Vincent's arrest his trial for six murders is over? Seriously? Totally stupid book. Don't waste your time.
